Yoga is the science of man and it existed long before. In course of time it has gathered around it the splendours of popular deviations and descriptions. Patanjali has once again systematised YOGA by extracting the pure scitific aspect. He has done this with the help and guidance of the Bhagavatgita. Bhagavatgita and Patanjali contain practical instruction in yoga.
It is the real experience of oneself which can be realised by neutralising the reactions of the MIND and SENSES towards objectivity. the method practising it as given by PATHANJALI MAHARSHI includes eight steps. Physical asanas and pranayama form part of the preliminary practice. though essential these two themselves cannot be called yoga totally. You are expected to practice the eight steps before you can qualify yourself to be called a student of yoga.
The eight steps are YAMA, NIYAMA, ASANA, PRANAYAMA, PRATYAHARA, DHARANA , DHYANA, SAMADHI.
tHE FIRST FOUR STEPS FORM THE PRELIMINARY PRACTICE OF YOGA. tHE NEXT FOUR STEPS INCLUDE THE REAL PRACTICE OF YOGA WITH 'THE MAN IN YOU'.
